White chocolate cranberry cookies bring together two contrasting flavors that make every bite interesting: creamy sweetness from white chocolate and a bright, slightly tart taste from dried cranberries. These cookies are easy enough for everyday baking but special enough for holiday gatherings, cookie exchanges, and homemade gifts. Their soft texture, chewy center, and colorful appearance make them a reliable favorite when you want a treat that feels a little more distinctive than a classic chocolate chip cookie.

White Chocolate Cranberry Cookies for Any Occasion The appeal of these cookies comes from the balance between rich and fruity flavors. White chocolate adds a smooth, buttery sweetness, while dried cranberries provide a pleasantly tangy contrast. For extra texture, chopped pecans or walnuts can be folded into the dough, although the cookies are equally enjoyable without nuts. A small amount of vanilla and a pinch of salt can also sharpen the overall flavor without overpowering the main ingredients. For the best results, avoid overbaking the cookies. Taking them from the oven when the edges are lightly golden and the centers still look slightly soft helps preserve a chewy texture as they cool. Chilling the dough before baking can also help the cookies hold their shape and develop a richer flavor. These simple details can make a noticeable difference in the finished batch.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. To make the dough, combine flour, butter, sugar and salt in a food processor and pulse until the mixture resembles a coarse meal. With the machine running, slowly add ice water just until dough forms. Cover and chill for 30 minutes. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough into an 11-inch round. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet. In a bowl combine cranberries, walnuts, sugar and dark brown sugar and toss together. Place cranberry mixture in the tart shell, leaving a 1 1/2-inch border around the outside edge. Raise the borders of dough to enclose the sides of the tart, draping it over the fruit. Gently press the edge of the folded dough onto the baking sheet, being careful not to mash the fruit. Pinch the pleats that form from the draping. Bake the tart for 15 to 18 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the berries are juicy. Cool the crostata on a rack for 10 minutes and dust with confectioners sugar.
