White chocolate cranberry cookies bring together two contrasting flavors that make every bite interesting: creamy sweetness from white chocolate and a bright, slightly tart taste from dried cranberries. These cookies are easy enough for everyday baking but special enough for holiday gatherings, cookie exchanges, and homemade gifts. Their soft texture, chewy center, and colorful appearance make them a reliable favorite when you want a treat that feels a little more distinctive than a classic chocolate chip cookie.

White Chocolate Cranberry Cookies for Any Occasion The appeal of these cookies comes from the balance between rich and fruity flavors. White chocolate adds a smooth, buttery sweetness, while dried cranberries provide a pleasantly tangy contrast. For extra texture, chopped pecans or walnuts can be folded into the dough, although the cookies are equally enjoyable without nuts. A small amount of vanilla and a pinch of salt can also sharpen the overall flavor without overpowering the main ingredients. For the best results, avoid overbaking the cookies. Taking them from the oven when the edges are lightly golden and the centers still look slightly soft helps preserve a chewy texture as they cool. Chilling the dough before baking can also help the cookies hold their shape and develop a richer flavor. These simple details can make a noticeable difference in the finished batch.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In large bowl, beat butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until light and fluffy.Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt;Stir into the butter mixture until well blended. Mix in the chocolate chips and walnuts.Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto parchment lined cookie sheets. I usually roll the dough in my hands to form a ball. Place some nuts or chocolate chips on top of the rounded cookie dough, slightly pushing them in the dough. This way they won't fall off when baked. Refrigerate cookies for 15-20 minutes, while you clean up and preheat the oven. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or just until set.Cool slightly on the cookie sheets before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- If you don't want to use the whole amount of sugar, use 1/2 cup instead of 3/4cup. They are great!
- Double the recipe if you want to make more cookies.
- You can omit the orange flavor, if you like.
- TIP:You can also freeze the cookie dough. Just make cookie balls, freeze till hardened, and place in a freezer bag. This way you have ready-made cookie dough at your fingertips....ready to be baked, any time of the day:)
