White chocolate cranberry cookies bring together two contrasting flavors that make every bite interesting: creamy sweetness from white chocolate and a bright, slightly tart taste from dried cranberries. These cookies are easy enough for everyday baking but special enough for holiday gatherings, cookie exchanges, and homemade gifts. Their soft texture, chewy center, and colorful appearance make them a reliable favorite when you want a treat that feels a little more distinctive than a classic chocolate chip cookie.

White Chocolate Cranberry Cookies for Any Occasion The appeal of these cookies comes from the balance between rich and fruity flavors. White chocolate adds a smooth, buttery sweetness, while dried cranberries provide a pleasantly tangy contrast. For extra texture, chopped pecans or walnuts can be folded into the dough, although the cookies are equally enjoyable without nuts. A small amount of vanilla and a pinch of salt can also sharpen the overall flavor without overpowering the main ingredients. For the best results, avoid overbaking the cookies. Taking them from the oven when the edges are lightly golden and the centers still look slightly soft helps preserve a chewy texture as they cool. Chilling the dough before baking can also help the cookies hold their shape and develop a richer flavor. These simple details can make a noticeable difference in the finished batch.
Instructions
- Pre heat the oven to 300. Line a pan with parchment paper and set aside. Combine flour, chocolate chips, walnuts, cocoa, baking powder, cloves and salt and mix thoroughly, set aside. In a mixing bowl add 3/4 cup of sugar, eggs and vanilla. Beat on high speed about 10 minutes or until very light and thick. Fold in the flour mixture into egg mixture until well blended. Shape dough on parchment paper and sprinkle with remaining sugar. Bake 30-35 minutes or until firm to the touch. Remove from oven and let cool completely (about an hour)
- Return the oven temperature to 300, slice the logs on a diagonal into 1/4 inch thick sliced. Place slices cut side down, on the bar pan and bake 25- 30 minutes or until lightly browned, remove and let cool completely.
- Variation - Omit the cocoa powder, ground cloves and chocolate chips. Increase the flour to 1 1/2 cups and use almonds for walnuts. Substitute almond extract for the vanilla.
- You can also substitute pecans for nuts and use zest from lemon and orange to the egg mixture instead of the extracts.
